Go Central!
If you want to stay in the sea, lots of places are available down Arcadia way, but if you’re really smart, you’ll look for a place in the center to experience the real charms of the city… you can always go to the beach anyways.
Cozy and comfortable.
One place worth recommending is Premier Geneva Hotel, in the very heart of Odesa on the quiet Yevreyska Street, in front of the main Synagogue and the delightfully romantic Taverna Restaurant. Situated on one of the very first streets built in Odesa, the area was famous for the many Jewish families who had settled here.
Everything is covered!
The Premier Geneva Hotel has quietly located in the historical center of Odesa, just a 5-minute walk from the famous Deribasovskaya Street and 800 meters from the historic Opera and Ballet Theatre. As you enter the passage to the lobby from the main street, you can see in the large mural on your left the many famous personages from Odesa’s storied past. Once in the lobby (hotel services include a 24-hour front desk), very friendly receptionists await you, and they’re pretty good in English by the way.
The rooms are nice and stylish, and very comfortable, and if you can go for it (and at these prices, you very much can), go for a double room, it’s excellent value for the money. Each of the 38 rooms are individually decorated in a classic style, with soft light tones, nice and clean, the beds are very comfortable, and of course, they have free Wi-Fi. Air conditioning, a minibar, a flat-screen cable TV, and a safety deposit box are standard amenities. Be sure to get up in time for the Continental breakfast as well, as it's one you won’t want to miss. If you miss breakfast, don’t worry, their cozy restaurant serves local and European cuisine and has a wine cellar with a large selection of local and imported wines.
If you’re traveling by car, you’ll be happy to know that there is free parking with security which is very important if you don’t want to risk breaking or car thefts. Also, unlike many hotels, they accept dogs, which is great news if you travel with your pet.
The train station is just 2 km from Premier Geneva Hotel, and the Odesa International Airport is 9 km away. The train station is easily reached by a 5UAH mini bus, or, if you request it, shuttle transfers can be arranged at a surcharge. It’s an ideal location for any kind of tourism – whether you’re on a business trip, a long-term journey or just a short visit to taste the many charms of Odesa. The only caveat I can offer is to request a room away from the front street, as the hotel is non-smoking, the many guests go right outside the entrance to light up and talk, and both sound and smoke seemed to drift right up into the windows…
Also, be sure to check out the painting of the art wall as you walk to the reception area!
